Saturday 3 August: Another busy day for us at Battle HQ – things are progressing well as they are no doubt throughout all Battle sheds across the Island so far – keep up the good work everyone!

Miss Jersey Battle of Flowers has been up at Jersey Airport today, meeting & greeting many of the arriving passengers. Together with Battle Bee and fellow Parish representatives, Miss Trinity, Miss St Lawrence and Miss St Brelade. We are grateful to the team at Jersey Airport for once again organising this and to Jersey Tourism for their continuing support. What a great Jersey welcome we gave, with many of the passengers here in the Island specifically to see the Battle.

Ticket outlets are reporting excellent sales and although M&S in King Street is not open on Sunday you can still purchase in person on Sunday at 23 Esplanade, opposite Jersey Tourism office between 10am-4pm OR better still, avoid the queues and purchase tickets online – http::// – available 24/7 but hurry – they’re selling fast!!!

Don’t forget that the Miss Junior Battle of Flowers competition will be held at 2pm at the Battle Funfair, St Helier Waterfront, tomorrow (Sunday). We are really excited to see who will be crowned this year’s winner and get to share the limelight with Miss and Mr Battle.

Talking about the Funfair, there’s a real buzz around the place and it’s in the perfect location. Everything is now ready for the International Food Village, which opens on Monday 5 August from 12pm noon. There will be a variety of food stalls to choose from, ranging from Chinese and Mexican, Irish to American, Polish to Transylvanian!!!   Your taste buds will be in for a real treat and of course make sure you head down there on Battle Day itself for a bite to eat before the Parade starts – AND, rather than heading straight back after the Parade finishes, why not come along afterwards and enjoy a tipple or two at the Food Village and keep that party atmosphere going

Well, it has certainly been a busy day, the sun has shone and lots of happy, smiley people  – loving it and loving the positive feedback we are getting about this year’s parades.

Before we sign off – just want to wish Mario and the organisers of the 2013 Havre des Pas Seaside Festival the best of luck for Sunday and equally of course to organisers of this year’s Alderney week celebrations  – let’s hope the sun continues to shine on us all

Catch up soon!
