The 2001 Jersey Battle of Flowers once again enjoyed another dry day for the traditional Parade. With the achievement of all the twelve parishes entering, coupled with magnificent entries from our privateers, the parade was another huge success. One entry which appeared again after many years of absence was Edward Le Bailly with his exhibit entitled "101 Dalmations" eventually winning class 4 The richard Le Brocq Trophy. Thomas the Tank Engine entered by "Friends of Thomas" together with Teresa O'Brian and Sarah Le Masurier who entered their exhibit "There was an Old Lady who Lived in a Shoe" were also new exhibits to the Battle joining our traditional entries and also Battle Bee. Battle Tank, the visiting Bands and Majorettes and all the visiting Carnival Princesses.
The final two parish entries, St Lawrence "Let Them Eat Cake" and St Mary "Woodland Fantasy" also scooped various trophies.
The top award for Paper Flowers "The Prix de Papier" was presented to "Nigel Gates and Friends" for their float entitled "Carnival".
The Optimists Club again presented a magnificent float "The American Dream" to take the top floral award "The Prix d'Honneur".
The following evening the Moonlight Parade was as successful with David Le Boutillier, Terry O'Brian and Cath Richardson with their float "Oriental Fantasy" winning the smaller class and the Parish of St Clements with their float "Geisha" winning the larger class for the "Best Illuminated Floats".
