Spectators at the 2018 Jersey Battle of Flowers can, for the first time, enjoy entertainment both in and out of the Victoria Avenue parade arena this year with the addition of ‘Little Gig’, a free stage entertainment programme taking place in the Lower Park.
Organisers have secured the appearance of a number of local performers to appear on a pop-up stage on both Thursday afternoon, following the Daytime Parade and on Friday evening, prior to the Moonlight Parade to entertain spectators as part of an initiative to create more of a festival atmosphere.
Events Director for Battle of Flowers, Jackie Donald, explains, “As part of our efforts to enhance the 2-day spectacle we have decided to introduce further entertainment for those who are attending the parade. When the parade finishes on Thursday afternoon, rather than spectators leaving straight away we are hoping that the stage entertainment will them encourage to stay for longer and continue the festival atmosphere. Similarly, with the Moonlight Show not starting until 9pm we hope to encourage people to come down earlier and get the party started. In addition to the stage entertainment we also have a number of catering and refreshment concessions located throughout the Lower Park area”.
Musicians due to take to the stage on Thursday afternoon between 4:30pm and 8:30pm include Ryan Marrett, Eva Patterson, Jessie Byatt, Danielle Le Feuvre and Scott Livingstone. Friday’s programme, which will start at 7:30pm will see performances from Hot Bananas and visiting from the UK, The Callington Gospel Singers. The Moonlight Paarde is due to start at 9:00pm.
A number of catering & refreshments concessions will also be open in Lower Park. The entertainment programme can be enjoyed by anyone with a valid entry ticket to the arena.
