Jersey Battle of Flowers is seeking new Board Members for 2020/2021

Membership Form 2019-2020

Nomination Form 2020-2021

The Jersey Battle of Flowers is one of the Island’s largest and most popular summer events, first established in 1902 and attracting approx. 24,000 of visitors and residents annually. The emphasis of the 2-day floral showcase is very much focused on people, whether that be the exhibitors, the musicians and entertainers, the numerous voluntary agencies and individuals or importantly the spectators who together, help create this wonderful community spectacle.

Unfortunately, the Covid 19 pandemic has resulted in us having to cancel this year’s event. While this is disappointing to so many it has given us the opportunity to focus on the future of Battle with the aim of coming back bigger and better in 2021 and beyond. However, we can’t make decisions alone, which is why we are currently seeking additional Board members for 2020/2021.

In this voluntary role, Board members will support the Events Director and be expected to attend regular meetings, approximately 12 per year, as well as being asked to assume additional responsibilities, particularly in areas such as:

  • Commercial sponsorship
  • Finance
  • Entertainment
  • Marketing

Whilst experience and skills in the areas mentioned above are highly desirable, especially those with commercial experience, we value previous experience with charities and seek individuals with good ‘people skills’. Members should be readily available during the busy months of June to September. Age is no barrier.

As a Board member you will have opportunities to:

  • make strategic decisions and developments.

  • influence and help shape future Battle projects

  • help us in seeking a Battle revival among the wider community

So, what type of people are we looking for as Board members? Those who have a passion for Jersey and the Island’s community, who aren’t afraid to get involved and roll up their sleeves, imaginative and forward thinking and importantly, believe they can make a valid contribution to Battle and take it forward, while maintaining many of its much loved traditions. If these sound the type of qualities you have, why not tell us more – we’d love to hear from you.

In the first instance, please get in touch with our Events Director, Jackie Donald by emailing no later than July 20th 2020.
