Miss Battle of Flowers 2007 is university student, Vicky Trehorel. It was her infectious love for the island and community spirit that surrounds the Battle of Flowers that made her the eventual winner.
Indeed, the bubbly 19 year-old has a long history with the Battle of Flowers, having been involved with her home parish of St Saviour’s entry for a number of years. This included choreographing the parish dancers and appearing on the float itself. In fact, she even appeared as Battle Bee during the 2006 festivities.
She is now into her summer holidays from Kingston University, where she is currently studying Drama and English and is already throwing herself into the various community activities and events she is invited to attend. “The best thing for me is going to be able to stand in front of people and say that I am representing my island, not just on Battle Day itself but throughout the year. I really hope I make Jersey proud.” she enthuses.
And as for her consort on Battle Day, former England rugby player, winner of ITV1’s ‘Celebrity on Ice’ and Jersey-boy Kieran Bracken, she couldn’t be more excited. “To start with, I think he is absolutely gorgeous and having already met him, I’m sure we’re going to get on great”.
As Vicky embarks on her whirlwind year, her feet will hardly touch the ground but she is determined to enjoy every minute and with this enthusiasm and commitment no doubt she will prove to be the perfect ambassador for the continuing success of the Jersey Battle of Flowers as well as the island itself.
